Frequently asked questions
Prepare for Le Pré Doux
Practical answers for your stay.
How far is the campsite from Ambert and shopping options?
You do not have to drive far for everyday groceries. About 8 minutes from the campsite, you will find Carrefour, Aldi and Intermarché in Ambert, among others. And for anyone who still wants something familiar during the holiday: Action and McDonald’s have also found their place in Ambert.
Are dogs welcome at the campsite?
Would you like to bring your dog to Le Pré Doux? Please contact us in advance. We fully understand that, for many people, a dog is part of the family and you would prefer to take it on holiday. Because we are a small campsite and want to consider all our guests, we assess what is possible for each request. This helps keep the stay pleasant and relaxed for everyone.
Who is Camping Le Pré Doux suitable for?
Le Pré Doux is for families, peace seekers, nature lovers and active guests who love genuine outdoor living. A place where children can play and explore freely and adults can enjoy the peace, space and beautiful Auvergne. We are small-scale and personal: no busy entertainment programme, but sociability when you feel like it and enough room to retreat. Walking and cycling routes (road, MTB and gravel) abound in this area. In short: relax, be outdoors and enjoy the good French life.
How does the bread service work in high season?
During high season, you can enjoy fresh bread every morning. Hand in your order list at reception before 5 pm the day before. The next morning, your filled bread bag will be ready at reception from 8.30 am. An easy and delicious start to the day with fresh French bread!
Are there furnished tents or other glamping options?
Yes! Would you like to enjoy outdoor life with just a little more comfort? At Le Pré Doux you can stay in our fully furnished safari tents. This gives you the real camping experience without having to bring your own tent and camping equipment. The tents have comfortable beds, a kitchenette and a pleasant place to sit outside. The sanitary facilities are in our sanitary building. Camping with that little bit of extra convenience.
What should I bring myself when staying in a furnished tent?
Bed linen is provided in our furnished tents, so you do not have to bring it along. You do need to bring your own hand towels, bath towels and tea towels. Above all, do not forget your favourite large towel for the pool!
Is there Wi-Fi at the campsite?
Yes, there is Wi-Fi at the campsite. Handy for looking something up, keeping in touch with home or, of course, sharing a lovely holiday photo. But honestly, we most like to see both children and parents enjoying the outdoors: playing, swimming, walking, reading a book or enjoying campsite life together. In our view, the best connection at Le Pré Doux is the one with each other and with the surroundings.
Can I charge my electric car at the campsite?
There is no charging point for electric cars at the campsite itself. It is also not permitted to charge your car from the electrical connection of your pitch or safari tent. Fortunately, there are several charging points and fast chargers nearby, for example at Carrefour in Ambert. While your car is charging, you can do your shopping at the same time. Two birds with one stone!
Is there a service point for emptying the motorhome toilet or grey water?
At Le Pré Doux we have a place to empty your chemical toilet, but no separate motorhome service point. For emptying grey water and servicing your motorhome, you can use the nearby municipal campsite in Ambert.
How much shade is there on the pitches?
All our spacious pitches offer a pleasant combination of sun and shade. You can choose for yourself: enjoy the sun or cool down in the shade. There are also plenty of shaded spots around our safari tents. Ideal for a quiet breakfast, a book in the afternoon or simply escaping the French summer sun for a while.
Is the pool supervised?
There is no permanent supervision or lifeguard at our pool. Swimming is therefore at your own risk. Children may only use the pool under the supervision and responsibility of an adult. This keeps swimming safe and relaxed for everyone. The pool is also fully fenced and the entrance gate has a child lock, so small children cannot enter the pool area by themselves.
Where can I dispose of my waste?
We also like to separate our waste properly on holiday. At Le Pré Doux it works as follows: • Yellow bag (available from reception): everything that can be recycled, such as cardboard, plastic packaging and cans. The bag can then go into our containers at the entrance to the campsite. • Black bag: all other general waste. The bag can then go into our containers at the entrance to the campsite. • Vegetable, fruit and other compostable waste: compost bins are available on site. • Glass: can be taken to the glass container just outside our campsite, at the start of our street, Chemin Châtelet (click here for the exact location). Together, we keep Le Pré Doux tidy and a little greener.
